Emil's Garage Sundowner 2023
Where to begin? Maybe with the fact that I only met Emil a few weeks before the event, during the VHCLE x HFMSTRS barbecue in Berlin. What a fun, genuine and, most of all, passionate guy!
So when @m3gasper send me a message a few days later that Sundowner signup began, I immediately knew what to do. Tickets were booked and the countdown to the trip to Hamburg began.
Only this time, the means of transport were different, as we represented PTRLSM with a 992 Carrera 4S, finished in Aventurine Green over my personal favorite Truffle Brown interior. We quite enjoyed our 500+ km trip in this autobahn cruise missile. Even the torrential rain as we were nearing Hamburg couldn't get us down. After a good lunch (around Fischmarkt) and a quick stroll through Hafencity, we lined up at the check-in location, next to both cool youngtimers and some newer metal (shoutout to Tunemi.de crew that we drove behind).
What we weren't sure about, was the exact location of the event. We only knew that there would be some driving around the port, so at the check in we got an address of the first checkpoint. Driving along such an eclectic mix of cars including an E30 Convertible, Alfa 75 and a Datsun 240Z was already fun, but the checkpoints were an added bonus. Plus, a smart move not to overload the entry to the main location. An idea I'd like to see used more often at events.
Reaching the event location was a proper wow-moment, let the pictures speak for themselves.
I parked our car and started exploring the grounds. The location was just out of this world with containers forming a perfect backdrop to the presented cars.
And there was a lot of interesting examples, with a strong focus on youngtimers and classic (mostly Porsche and BMW) with a few notable exceptions.
And these exceptions caught my eye - just look at this immaculate Carrera GT or the iconic 1 M Coupe duo.
Ok, the 997 GT3 RS was a looker, too.
Even the rain that showed up for a few brief moments couldn't break the spirits, it only added to the vibe and created some cool photo-ops.
It was great to catch up with @m3gasper (rocking a PTRLSM hoodie:), Maciek (Skrzyński), Marc (@vhcle) and making some new ones again. After all, it's all about the people and community and the community vibe was very strong here!
In the end, the clouds moved over and there it was - the sundowner. A great finish to an awesome day.
Massive kudos go out to Emil and his team for organizing this one. Perfect location, great variety of cars and a great group of enthusiasts all in one place. Looking forward to what you come up with next year already!
Before this happens, here's some more pictures and my short reel :)
